Love.

Aunt Marie

My Aunt Marie died yesterday. She was old and frail.  She lay in a hospice bed, being kept comfortable as her body slowly and willfully failed her.

I visited her last Saturday.  I stroked her hands and smoothed back her hair.

I put a bible in my car when I got home so I could read it to her this weekend.

I wasn’t a good niece but she loved me anyway.

Mom.

True story – My mother’s name is Renee and I can never remember if the accent is on the second or third ‘e’. So as I do with all my questions, I took to the internet. This is what was waiting for me there: http://www.reneepalmer.com/index.html

Before I saw the white woman in the header, I thought, for one brief moment that my mother had put together the craziest website that ever crazied. And the mere idea that she could keep something this amazing from me sent me into such a peal of laughter.

I like how WhiteReneePalmer ™ has that jocular/annoyed-but-just-kidding thing going on but she’s not really funny so she it just seems like she’s crazy.  And I say that With Love and Without Judging™. God forbid WhiteReneePalmer™ should read this and be offended, and then at the Annual Meeting of Renee Palmers, mention something to my mom. Chagrin City!

In answer to the question you’re surely asking, No, I never did remember which ‘e’ the accent went on, so I did the next best thing:
